Application Engineer

Company and Job Description: Were seeking a proactive and technically skilled Application Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of process design, equipment specification, and system safety, especially within the infrastructure, pipeline, or energy sectors.

Youll be involved in tailoring engineering solutions to meet unique client needs while ensuring that all designs and systems uphold the highest standards of process safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities: Apply sound engineering principles to develop fit-for-purpose technical solutions for projects involving gas, pipelines, petrochemicals, or water systems.

Create and review technical specifications, datasheets, equipment selections, and support procurement processes.

Integrate process safety principles into application designs including HAZOPs, LOPAs, and SIL assessments.

Liaise with vendors and internal teams to ensure technical alignment and compliance with local and international standards.

Support construction, commissioning, and client interaction from concept to completion Job Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile): BEng / BSc in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.

38 years of experience in an application, process, or technical engineering role.

Proven involvement in process safety evaluations (HAZOP, SIL, QRA, etc.).

Knowledge of relevant standards: SANS, API, ASME, IEC 61511, ISO.

Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical details into clear value for clients.

Excellent problem-solving mindset with a sharp eye for detail and risk.

Able to work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and project teams.

Comfortable engaging with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders on technical and safety-related matters.

Hands-on experience with tools like Aspen HYSYS, PIPEPHASE, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
