Chief Operating Officer | Luxury Wine Estate | Franschhoek

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a highly skilled Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join a luxury wine estate in Franschhoek.

This senior leadership position will oversee the consolidation of technology and data services across a diverse group of companies.

The role offers a unique opportunity for a dynamic professional with a passion for data, analytics, AI, and software development to drive group-wide global strategy and lead a high-performing team.

Key Purpose:
The COO will head the data and technology team, coordinating the integration of software systems and collaborating with stakeholders across multiple business units and countries.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering data-driven solutions, optimising business processes, and enabling informed decision-making across the group.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the data and technology division, managing teams and driving performance.

  • Oversee data management, warehousing, e-commerce platforms, website and app development, and hospitality technology solutions.

  • Develop and execute a global data strategy, including AI and advanced analytics applications.

  • Build and maintain effective data pipelines, integrations, and reporting systems.

  • Ensure the delivery of technology projects and product development within scope and budget.

  • Provide data-driven insights to influence marketing, e-commerce, and broader business strategies.

  • Maintain compliance with GDPR, POPIA, and other relevant regulations.

  • Collaborate with international teams and travel when required.

Requirements:

  • Degree in data science, statistics, engineering, computer science, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in data, analytics, data science, software development, and/or engineering.

  • Proven leadership and people management experience.

  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as HubSpot or Salesforce.

  • Advanced understanding of BI and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Analytics).

  • Strong knowledge of programming and data science tools (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB, pandas) and database languages.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing data strategies.

  • Proven track record in managing technology projects and product development.

  • Ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across all organisational levels.

  • Willingness to travel internationally and work on-site, five days a week.

  • Experience in e-commerce and hospitality technology advantageous.

  • Proactive, innovative, and solution-driven.

Package:
