CNC Operator/Programmer/Setter

Job Purpose:
Responsible for the accurate operation, programming, and setup of CNC turning and milling machines to ensure high-quality production output, adherence to engineering specifications, and efficient workflow within the manufacturing department.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary education or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
- Trade certification in CNC operation or machining is advantageous.
- Prior experience operating and programming CNC machines preferred.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- CNC Operation:
- Operate and monitor CNC turning machines to produce components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Operate and monitor CNC milling machines for precision parts production.
- Machine Setup:
- Set up CNC machines, including tooling, fixtures, and workpieces, according to production requirements.
- Adjust machine parameters for optimal performance, accuracy, and quality.
- Programming:
- Write, modify, and optimize CNC programs based on engineering drawings and production requirements.
- Test and troubleshoot CNC programs to ensure error-free operation.
- Quality Assurance:
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Report deviations and take corrective action as necessary.
- Maintenance and Safety:
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep machines clean and in good working order.
- Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations in the workplace.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain production logs and documentation of machine setup, production runs, and maintenance.
- Report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor promptly.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Proficiency in CNC programming and machine operation software.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine or program errors.
- Time management and ability to meet production targets.
