Job description

The Data Processor at Enviromontel Ltd.

is responsible for the critical management, processing, and quality assurance of hydrological and site survey data.

This role involves transforming raw field data into accurate, visual, and client-ready reports, ensuring data integrity and timely delivery.

The Data Processor acts as a key liaison between site crews and clients, managing queries, verifying site information, and contributing to the efficiency of field operations through proactive data management and information provision.

  • Request and receive raw data packages from site crews, ensuring timely and complete submission.

  • Process raw data from Depth monitors, Rain gauges, and Flow monitors using specialized software (e.g., Hydrolog) to create visual and readable reports for clients, particularly for short-term flow data.

  • Verify the accuracy and suitability of all processed data before sending it to clients, ensuring high data quality and integrity.

  • Manually download and process data directly from monitoring systems when automated data packet collection by site crews is unavailable, ensuring continuity of reporting.

  • Create and manage client reports, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specified turnaround times (e.g., '2-day' turnaround).

  • Monitor and manage client site queries, facilitating communication between clients and site crews regarding site-specific tasks for upcoming interim visits.

  • Update and distribute site crew information packages with the latest client queries and site-specific instructions.

  • Review and verify site check sheets submitted by site crews, including data packet timescales, locations, pipe sizes, and flow rates.

  • Ensure verified site information corresponds with client queries and project requirements.

  • Extract key information from site check sheets to update and maintain a monitor performance tracking tab, monitoring progression and identifying issues.

  • Create, maintain, and issue the Anglian Water (AW) EDM and Flow survey monitor clashes spreadsheet weekly, detailing locations, FM numbers, times, and survey entries that may have clashed with Anglian's pre-installed monitor systems.

  • Compile and distribute pre-survey information packages for site crews, enhancing efficiency and preparedness.

  • Create and maintain location maps (FM, DM, RG) in both printed and interactive formats, used for identifying suitable primary and alternative monitor installation spots.

  • Produce, check, and manage final reports, ensuring comprehensive and accurate documentation.

  • Answer all client queries via email and phone calls, providing clear and concise information.

  • Attend weekly/monthly meetings as required to discuss project progress and data-related matters.

  • Be involved in team leader meetings when required, providing data insights and updates.

  • Produce Installation and Maintenance reports for each survey from Big Change.

  • Check the quality of Reports and Job Sheets on Big Change, maintaining data consistency and accuracy.

  • Produce Works Schedules and site information packs as needed.

  • Apply for Permits and Authorisations from clients when necessary.

  • Complete any Traffic Management (TM) requirements related to data or access.

  • Consult with operations regarding monitor removals and provide feedback on crew performance based on data quality and submissions.

A – Education:

  • Minimum Requirements: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

    Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel).

  • Preferred Requirements: A-Levels or equivalent further education.

    Experience with data processing software (e.g., Hydrolog).

    Previous administrative or data entry experience in a technical environment.

  • Essential Skills & Aptitudes: High level of accuracy and attention to detail for data verification; strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple data streams and deadlines; proficiency in data processing and reporting software; excellent verbal and written communication skills for client and internal team interaction; strong problem-solving skills for data discrepancies; ability to work independently and as part of a team; proactive approach to managing expanding responsibilities.

  • Level of Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a data management, data entry, or administrative role, preferably within a technical, engineering, or field-service environment where data processing was a key function.

C - Managerial and Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Direct Reports: None
  • Supervisory Functions : None.

    This role is individual contributor, focused on task execution.

  • Advisory/Specialist Capacity: Provides specialist data processing expertise and insights into data quality, trends, and potential clashes to site crews, Electricians, Project Managers, and clients.

    Advises on the suitability of data for client reporting and highlights operational issues identified through data analysis.

D - Accountability:

  • Scope of Impact: Accountable for the accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of all processed data and client reports; ensuring data integrity from field to final output; maintaining accurate site information and performance tracking; proactive identification and reporting of data clashes with client systems; contributing directly to client satisfaction and operational efficiency.

  • Level of Authority: Authorized to process and verify data within established procedures; responsible for escalating data discrepancies or client queries that cannot be resolved independently; authority to flag issues impacting data quality or report delivery.

E - Independence of Action:

  • Freedom to Act: Works with significant autonomy on daily data processing and report generation tasks, managing workload to meet deadlines.

    Independently manages client queries and internal information updates.

  • Adherence to Procedures: Requires strict adherence to data processing protocols, reporting standards, company operating procedures, and client-specific requirements.

  • Input into Strategy: May provide practical input on improving data collection processes, reporting efficiencies, and new data management tools based on direct experience.

    Contributes insights gained from clash analysis and monitor performance tracking.

F - Complexity:

  • Range of Tasks: Involves a broad and varied range of tasks from routine data processing and reporting to complex data verification, clash identification, manual data retrieval, and the creation of detailed pre-survey information and interactive maps.

    Requires managing multiple data streams from various monitor types.

  • Problem-Solving Complexity: Required to solve complex data discrepancies, troubleshoot issues with raw data packages, manually extract data from varied systems, and resolve client data queries that may require detailed investigation.

    Requires logical deduction to ensure data integrity and resolve anomalies.

  • Depth of Knowledge Required: Expected to possess a strong understanding of data processing principles, hydrological data types (Depth, Rain, Flow), and the ability to interpret and manipulate data effectively.

    Requires knowledge of company-specific reporting requirements and an understanding of field operations to verify site sheets and anticipate data needs.

G - Relationships:

  • Internal Contacts: Regular and close collaboration with site crews (requesting data, managing queries), Electricians, Project Managers, Operations, and potentially other administrative staff.

  • External Contacts: Frequent and direct interaction with clients via email and phone regarding data reports, queries, and site-specific information.

    Occasional contact with external systems (e.g., Anglian Water for clash reporting).

  • Level and Nature of Interaction: Highly collaborative and professional interactions internally, often guiding site crews on data submission requirements.

    Professional and often advisory interactions with clients, requiring clear communication of data insights and resolutions.

H - Direction:

  • Source of Work: Work is driven by ongoing project requirements, incoming raw data packages, client queries, and scheduled reporting deadlines.

    Also involves self-initiated tasks such as Anglian clashes spreadsheet updates and proactive pre-survey information creation.

  • Frequency of Review: Work is reviewed periodically through report approvals, client feedback, and internal quality checks.

    Regular progress updates provided to the reporting manager.

  • Level of Guidance: Works with a high degree of independence on day-to-day tasks, seeking guidance primarily for new or highly unusual data challenges, system issues, or complex client escalations.

  • Mental Demands: High concentration required for detailed data processing, verification, and report generation; managing strict '2-day' turnaround deadlines; handling multiple concurrent client queries and data streams; continuous attention to detail to prevent errors; adapting to expanding responsibilities and new software/processes.
