We are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer with extensive knowledge of and a passion in either Aerospace, Aviation or Defense.
Duties & Responsibilities 
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering 
 - Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical design 
 - In-depth knowledge of Fusion 360 or other 3D CAD software 
 - Additive manufacturing experience advantageous (3D printing rapid prototyping) 
 - Preference given to knowledge of optical system design 
 - Experience in aerospace or other standards and process driven industries 
 - Investigative mind inclined toward developing practical solutions to real-world problems 
 - Hands-on approach and proficiency with machinery including lathe, CNC and general tools 
 - Extensive knowledge of fabrication processes, especially machining & plastic injection molding 
 - Ability to plan, schedule, collaborate and problem solve effectively

Job Description: 
Problem Solving and Design: 
- Design simple and innovative solutions for complex problems.
 - Utilize CAD to design mechanical parts, systems, and subsystems for products, test equipment, and production jigs.
  
Engineering Principles: 
- Apply Physics, Mechanics, and Design principles using CAD to optimize solutions.
 - Manage component libraries according to required standards.
  
Project Management: 
- Manage development projects, ensuring they meet specifications on time and within budget.
 - Conduct regular project update meetings with the Engineering Manager.
  
Collaboration and Costing: 
- Collaborate with Procurement and Finance for component cost estimates and final product costing.
 - Work with the Development Team, Production Engineer, and Quality Management to ensure designs are feasible, meet certification standards, and satisfy requirements.
  
Testing and Prototyping: 
- Prepare test plans and procedures for opto-electronic systems.
 - Develop and build prototypes through rapid prototyping.
 - Record and evaluate testing data, adjusting designs for performance and efficiency.
  
Certification and Materials: 
- Assist with product certification activities.
 - Select optimal materials and manufacturing processes for reliability and cost-effectiveness.
  
Documentation and Support: 
- Ensure correct production and storage of design output documentation (BOM’s, drawings, CAD & CAM files).
 - Consult with external providers during manufacturing, making design changes when required.
 - Provide technical support in the design and development of mechanical and optical systems.
  
Customer Interaction and Research: 
- Provide technical support to Production and customers.
 - Interact with Engineering and Production to address difficulties during manufacturing.
 - Resolve design and manufacturing questions with customers when necessary.
 - Research new materials, development methods, and technologies for improved product performance.

 - Adhere to Safety, Health & Environmental policies.
