We are looking for a Virtual Medical Receptionist for an eyecare practice.
Eyecare industry experience is required and as the front-line employee, your role will be extremely important for maintaining or improving patient experience and satisfaction.
Your goal should always be to make patients comfortable and well-informed.
Key Responsibilities:  
- Greet and assist patients over the phone and via email.
 
 
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
 
 
- Verify vision and medical insurance benefits for patients prior to appointments, including eligibility, co-pays, deductibles, and authorization requirements.
 
 
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies and third-party payers to resolve verification and billing issues.
 
 
- Collect and input patient information accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and office policies.
 
 
- Educate patients on insurance coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and billing procedures.
 
 
- Manage incoming calls, emails, and messages; triage inquiries and route them appropriately.
 
 
- Support billing and collections teams by providing insurance data and verification records.
 
 
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and courtesy at all times.
 
 
What We’re Looking For:  
- 3+ years of experience in a medical receptionist or administrative role in an optometry, ophthalmology, or healthcare setting.
 
 
- Proven experience with U.S. medical and vision insurance verification is a bonus, but not essential.
 
 
- Familiarity with EHR systems and practice management software (e.g., Crystal PM, RevolutionEHR, and OfficeMate is a plus).
 
 
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused attitude.
 
 
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
 
 
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced remote environment.
 
 
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 codes, and basic billing terminology.
 
 
Other Requirements:  
- Excellent WIFI (minimum 50 -100Mbps speed) 
- Own Laptop or desktop computer 
- External Monitor 
- Sufficient backup power supply for power outages 
- Good quality headset with a built-in microphone 
- Working hours are Monday to Friday (US Time Zones)
